The more we do, the more we read and listen to, the more we copy, extract, research, the more we realise it's ALL in LIST.

Traditional businesses have often spoken about the database, the people you know, the people that know you, and more importantly the people that know and trust you. The old adage "it's not what you know, but who you know that counts", rings truer today than ever before.

Even (perhaps especially) in this virtual world of nameless, faceless people, with pseudonyms, aliases and alter-egos, hidden and protected by technology, you need to know who your are dealing with, listening to, following, buying from, buying because of.

So, you may well ask, what has all this got to do with the LIST? Well ..... EVERYTHING!

You will never build a list, or even if you do, you will not maintain it, if the people on that list do not very quickly build a basic level of trust in you and the message/information you are putting out to them. Once they've done that, your hard work really starts! Now you've got to continue to give them quality input to grow and develop that level of trust and let them see that what you do deliver to them is of interest/value.

One of the joys of technology is the delete and unsubscribe buttons, on your keyboard and in your email. Extremely easy to get in, and just as easy to get out of a list.

OK, so having said all that, just how do you start to build that list? Well I'd suggest for starters you check this little video out, it's designed by one of the guys out there that I've started to trust, as someone who offers honest value and advice, and on top of all that has collected together an amazing group of people and tools to help other do what he does .... BUILD LISTS!

It's been almost two years since we last posted something on this blog! Why? You may well ask.

Well that's a good question!

A TSUNAMI Of Information

Phew... just managed to come up for air again after a maelstrom of very WELCOME holidays and working on NEW projects took up most of our attention over the last four weeks.

In that time we have been literally flooded by information from various gurus that we have been following. I get the image of being tumbled around in a maelstrom of debris after a tsunami has just hit, not knowing which way is up... and having people tapping me on the shoulder to read something more or to sell me something.

It would be so easy to give up amidst this information overload. But 'give up' we won't!

Instead, I can mention that we had a fantastic meeting with a Google employee who quite simple reminded us to 'learn to swim first'. We were pointed to the Google AdWords: Learning Center. Phew... this blogging is SERIOUS business. After an intense month of start-up research, last week I received this message on my blog: 'Your blog is locked -Blogger's spam-prevention robots have detected that your blog has characteristics of a spam blog. You won't be able to publish posts to your blog until one of our humans reviews it and verifies that it is not a spam blog. Please fill out the form below to get a review.'

Took me by surprise... but we obviously got a favorable review because we're back up live again.

I wonder if this is a first sign of success that this site is attracting the interest of bots? Could it be the traffic is getting heavier... or the earnings through click-throughs is starting to attract attention? Exciting times trying to work it all out! Well worth persisting... and don't panic, there are obviously reasonable human beings at Blogger.

Google's HOT - Shares Top $500

As a newbie to this field of affiliate marketing, which has taken me into the world of Google Adsense, Adwords and Clickbank, et al, I've got to thinking how Google makes its money. And, the more I think about, the more I think that it's pure genius.

It's interesting to note that this week Google shares top $500 - Wed, November 22, 2006. The article states: 'The company now ranks as Silicon Valley's second most valuable business, eclipsing Intel Corp., the world's largest computer chip maker, and Hewlett-Packard Co., a high-tech pioneer. With a value of about $163 billion, only networking equipment maker Cisco Systems Inc. is worth more.'

So Google has got something right. I took a little tour of their Philosophy where we learn 10 things that Google has found to be true about their business. A great read, showing that... Google does search... Google is a business. The revenue the company generates is derived from offering its search technology to companies and from the sale of advertising displayed on Google and on other sites across the web. There's something very powerful about the driving guideline of this Google Philosophy page - read it.

Now I think that their genius is in recognising that information drives the Information Economy and that as more people get more informed they will produce more information. Google's strategy seems to be to have a series of high-response, compelling adverts on every page of information that ever appears on the world wide web. And there are going to be billions of pages as more andmore people are encouraged to tell their stories online. It is a direct marketer's dream - simple, pure genius.

In How Google Makes Money - February 24, 2006 - Rob Sullivan, Head Organic Search Strategist, writes: 'In 2005 Google’s revenues were over $6 billion on which they earned about $1.5 billion in net income... in just a short time Google has increased its value to over $110 billion, putting it on par (in value) with the likes of Cisco Systems, Nestle and Coca-Cola... Google makes most of its money through the sale of ads. In fact, of the company’s $6.2 billion in revenue in 2005, over $6 billion is from the ads.'

'Imagine that - Google can make so much money from ads which cost from a few pennies, to a few dollars per click... If we make some assumptions we can guess the traffic generated by Google. For example, if we assume the average cost per click is a quarter (25 cents) then Google received about 24 billion ad clicks. That works out to about 60 million paid clicks per day, which means Google earns about $15 million per day on paid advertising!'

'Google also has a program called “AdSense” which allows individual webmasters and site owners to place Google ads on their sites and earn a percentage on every click. From these types of ads there are reports that site owners have earned more than $1 million per year on Google ad clicks.'

Hey, that's good enough for me to want to dig deeper into how to make money with Google.

Is The Money In GOOGLE Adsense?

I think I'm getting it..! Google advertising - Adsense & Adwords - is where the money is. Well, that's what I'm thinking right now anyway.

I've looked at investing in Keywords and that can cost you a fortune if you don't know what you are doing. My guru and his guru seem to have the secrets well covered in their material.

Now I'm taking their advice and researching the inclusion of keywords into FREE articles for submission to other sites. And, take a look at what arrives in my inbox today - I've taken extracts:

'As you may well already know - I've made myself a lot of money building search engine directory sites... However, my automated income - just like everyone else's, came crashing down in the past year, and in the past few months, has plummeted into non-existence.'

Seems that Google has been removing tons of irrelevent 'junk' sites that previously made lots of money for the pioneers. He continues: 'So, after my old sites died out, I decided it was time to get my hands dirty... With no other choices, I started making new content sites totally from scratch with my own two hands. I started using real articles. After 2-3 months, most of them are making me about a $1/day with Adsense income.'

Hey, so this beginner is not too far behind some pretty experienced online income-generators out there.. ;-)

But here's what he shares about his new friend that has got my attention: 'Some 4 years ago, (he) was paid a little over 100K to build and maintain a German "Special Interest" site for a friend. It's a content site, just like the ones I USED to be building by hand - but it has some 12,000 articles that it has *slowly* added over the past several years - and it's now generating $500,000/month in gross sales!'

What..! Obviously I went looking for his new friend's site (due for launch on 1st Dec.) and this is how stimulates interest: "How an Obscure, Pithy Little Content Site Consistently Grosses $500K per Month by Getting 90% of its 8-Million Monthly Hits From FREE Organic Search Engine Traffic... and How You Can Do It too.” - With Over 12,000 Pages Indexed Into Google This Site Easily Brings in $100K/Month… Pure Profit!

That's all I've got so far... will do some more research and bring it to you... but it does confirm my feeling that we need to study this submission-of-Keywords-in-FREE-articles thing. So that's what I'm doing.

Today I'm getting onto learning something new for me - Search Engine Optimization (SEO). I've just watched a video by this guru and followed a link to his web site which offers a FREE series of SEO lessons in which he claims: 'In lesson 1, I'll be showing you the very first steps I took to help make me $51,027 within only a two week time period!'

OK, so that's good enough for me to get stuck into it... you can follow me to his website on this link. Wow, it's HOT - here's his opening gambit: 'Consistently Average Over 15 000 Vistors To Youe Websites, Per Day' - "Learn how I use this revolutionary software to consistently average over 15,000 visitors to my websites, per day - Using only FREE search engines traffic from Google, Yahoo, and MSN!"

His copy and affiliate support structure is excellent. Look for his demo video link half-way down the copy.

'Putting up a blog and using it for Adsense is simple, fast, and can give you at least as much revenue as building a conventional website'. So says the author of 'Blogging & Google Adsense', which I am reading right now. Just found this quote: '..a lot of bloggers have recently discovered that with the help of AdSense, their blogs can quickly become cash cows!' Click on the link and read it for yourself. Today in my inbox, in comes a link to just such an Affiliate Classroom - has tons of resources. Take a look at it on this link. Without THIS... You Can't Start!

So have you started yet? You ain't gonna learn what this Affiliate Marketing business is about if you don't have an online WEB platform to promote products from.

Simplest way to do that is to go to the 'Blogger' link at the top of this page and 'Get Your Own Blog' just like this one. It's FREE, for goodness sake.

Start producing some copy around your niche field of interest, and once you've got about 10 or so postings created, go to 'Template' in the back-end and click on the 'Adsense' link to have your copy reviewed by the Google Adsense team. And when they review it positively, just like they did this one, YOU can start generating $ revenue online from each vistor to your site that clicks through the Google ads.

One thing that stands out for me about the Affiliate Marketing gurus of this world is that they all know HOW to promote their products. They all seem to do similar things. Take a look at each of the gurus product links on the right column of this site. They are there because I am studying them intensely.

I found another site developed by the traffic-generating guru discussed yesterday - click on this link to take a look at how he uses his COPY and AUDIO to promote his concept. It is outstanding.

Compare it to the similar, COPY, AUDIO, VIDEO & Support elements used by the publisher of the 'hot-off-the-press' report I mentioned a few days ago. Again... read the copy and follow the Affiliate link at the bottom of the page... this guy really knows what he is doing!

Step 4. WHO To Promote To?

I'm realising that my initiating guru is a product-focused guru, or more correctly... is perhaps currently specifically focused on teaching us how to identify the right timing and quality of product to promote to our database. I suspect that he knows much more than even he let's on. Only problem is, many of us don't have databases of prospects to promote to.

So I'm beginning to believe that us newbies - Affiliate Marketing beginners - have got to learn something about building databases of prospects to market to. The gurus speak of it as attracting TRAFFIC to your website (or to your selected product offer/s). Phew, the learning curve has been intense. I have found that every new road can lead to hundreds more. So let's slow down and review what our simple steps as an Affiliate Marketing BEGINNER should be to get started without too much fuss:

Clickbank have a neat, simple site which shows one how to SELL products through Affiliate Marketing (i.e. How to become a PUBLISHER) and how to FIND and PROMOTE products produced by others (i.e. How to become an AFFILIATE). I recommend that you spend some time going through their site. Their FAQ's are excellent. They get an excellent press from the BIG money-earners.

Step 2. Get Google Adsense.

You can register for your own FREE Google Adsense account on the 'Generate revenue from your site with Google Adsense' button on the top right of this site - under 'LINKS'. 'Participation in AdSense requires you to have a website. If you don't have one, you can sign up for a free blog at www.blogger.com' ...which is what I have done to build this site.

Step 3. Clickbank Marketplace - Select Products to Promote.

Go to Clickbank, click the tab 'Promote Products' and then click the link 'Marketplace'.

Here you can search all the products being offered for sale by various categories, including their 'popularity', '$/earned sale' - how much in $'s affiliates have earned per sale, and '%/sale' - how much you earn as a percentage of the total price of the product. Find the products you can promote on your website - here are some suggestions for you on this link.

Persist - It PAYS Off!

One of the world's leading copyright gurus - Gary Halbert - led me to the guru that stimulated today's topic. Gary got my attention when he wrote that today's topic discussion GURU '..knows more about selling on the Internet that any man I've ever met. He's the best there is.'

I like this line the best: 'equals GRAND TOTAL AMOUNT OWING = $ 70.93'

Now strangely, I've known this affiliate marketing product promoter for over 10 years now, he's one of the best. And I've never really got serious about affiliate marketing. Time to change that. Imagine if we can get a couple of cheques (checks) a day from just promoting his products - click here to get to him. That can be an average of over $100 a day alone! That's a lot better than our humble $10 a day first target. Hmmm... better not get greedy now.

Take a look at what I discovered in the Clickbank Marketplace - this guy's affiliate marketing product did '$1 Million in 5 days'. Puke...!!!! I don't believe it. Can this really be true?

From what I am learning, one of the deep secrets about making big money online that the super-affiliates seem to know and keep to themselves is this: it's all about product selection. Yes, I know, we newbies are concerned about TRAFFIC (we'll get to that soon), but my 'guru' tells me that 'if you push the right product at the right time, then you still clean up'.

Here's where the rubber begins to hit the road. Go to Clickbank, click the tab 'Promote Products' and then click the link 'Marketplace'.

Here you can search all the products being offered for sale by various categories, including their 'popularity', '$/earned sale' - how much in $'s affiliates have earned per sale, and '%/sale' - how much you earn as a percentage of the total price of the product.

Well, blow me down... here's what I've just learnt about my 'guru'. The grapevine has it that he's the guy who is said to have broken all Affiliate Marketing product sales records on Clickbank in 2006. I'm impressed.

Here's the first thing I learnt. It's just too easy to NOT get started.

I wanted to get to know everything, to read the entire manual, to learn how everything worked first. That's just crazy!

There's just too much information out there on Affiliate Marketing. Google provides 43,100,000 links for the search term 'Affiliate Marketing'. Information overload causes analysis paralysis.

Don't over-analyse.

If someone can show you how to make just $10 a day... and you don't get started for 30 days... you have thrown $300 down the drain. Now if they claim just one example that you can follow to be doing $100 per day... that's a cool $3000 down the drain. Multiply those figures by every month that you procrastinate. Painful, huh?
